Altoona Chief of Police Jesse James Announces Candidacy for 68th Assembly District

Altoona - Jesse James, Altoona Chief of Police and local small business owner, announced his candidacy for the vacant 68th Assembly District today.

“Being born and raised here in Western Wisconsin, I am excited to run for State Assembly. I want to help bring common sense values of this region to Madison,” said James. “Serving as Altoona Chief of Police, I've seen the challenges that face our communities and am prepared to bring our perspective and leadership skills to the State Capitol.”

James has served with the Altoona Police Department since September 2001, as a part time officer, rising through the ranks to become Chief in 2013. In his current position, James leads day-to-day operations of the police department and manages the department budget. James also honorably served our country as an active-duty member of the United States Army and as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves 397th Engineer Battalion.

“Working with the Altoona Police Department for the past 16 years, I've had the privilege of getting to know the people that help make small-town communities in this area so special. Spending each day listening to their dreams and concerns has created a desire to represent the 68th Assembly District in Madison. I am eager to meet even more residents of the district over the coming months.”

James and his wife Vicki live in Altoona, where they enjoy spending time with their four children and running their small business, Snowie of Altoona. James is excited to bring his fresh voice, local government perspective, and leadership skills to Madison to support the families and small businesses of Chippewa, Clark, Eau Claire, Jackson, and Trempealeau counties.
